Background

From our network of over 200 UK suppliers, we procure specific products and qualities for our customers – whether they are based in the UK, mainland Europe or further afield in India, USA or the Far East.

We see one of our roles as being the “boots on the ground” for our customers, giving them the confidence that we have viewed and checked materials before dispatch. We place a lot of emphasis on knowing the loading site and knowing the materials being loaded – by regular visits and pre-loading quality inspections and assessments.

We move a broad range of materials and different grades and are always looking to develop business with new reprocessors as well as maintaining and growing our partnerships with our existing customers.

Our aim is to secure a quality supply of material for our customers at pricing that works for both the supplier and the customer, to allow ongoing trading of material into the future.

Your Recycling Operations and Target Materials for Reprocessing

With over 10 years of experience in supplying recyclable materials to customers, we appreciate that different customers operate different recycling processes and target different qualities and grades.  We also understand that this links to commercial value – some customers require a premium product and their pricing reflects this, while others may be targeting lower grades at lower prices.

With this in mind, we will work hard to maximise our understanding of your needs – the different grades you are buying and the commercial and quality constraints that you are working to.

We always to try be open and honest around material quality – and welcome all customer feedback, whether positive or negative.  We share customer feedback with our suppliers with the aim of working with them to maintain or improve quality, especially where this can add value to materials and ensure a regular flow of materials to your site.

Our Suppliers

We deal with a broad range of suppliers across the UK from small recycling businesses through to multinational waste companies.  Although we are based in the north west of England, we have staff and contractors who are constantly travelling to visit sites and meet with current and potential suppliers – wherever in the UK they are based.

We capture all supplier enquiries in our constantly updated database, including quantities and qualities of each grade.  This enables us to find a range of suitable sources of material to match your requirements.  Suppliers and enquiries are all linked into our compliance system and this allows us to access previous site inspections and material sampling records – and share details with customers when needed.  Our inspection processes ensure that you will receive the products and quality that you ordered.

Service & Compliance

We have company values centred around providing the best possible service to suppliers and customers based on integrity, honesty, knowledge & quality. We aim to stand out through service excellence and compliance.

Find out more below about how we fulfil our compliance goals and deliver service to you.

  • Once our Trading team confirms a sale to you, you can expect proactive & clear communication from our Logistics & Finance teams.

We aim to send clear and detailed documentation including Sales Orders and compliance documents.  We will work with you around delivery dates or shipping schedules so that your requirements are met, especially if plans need to change.  Once material has been collected from our suppliers, we review the loading documentation and loading photos to ensure smooth movement of the material, and share all relevant information that you need.

Our team is experienced in all areas of logistics to make sure that material moves smoothly from the supplier to your site without delay.  Each day we are organising transport – whether that is a local collection, a curtainsider trailer to Europe or 10 shipping containers to India.  In integral part of our logistics function is making sure that all customs documentation and clearances are all in order, any inspection certificates are in place, and that finalised documents such as Bills of Lading are accurate and correct.

Since Brexit, we now operate enhanced export processes to the EU to avoid unnecessary customs delays.  We deal with UK- and EU-based import and export agents, and we can offer assistance to EU customers handling import of materials from the UK, including referrals to recommended EU import agents.

  • We are regulated mainly by the Environment Agency (EA) in England, but also deal with regulators in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

We believe in transparency in our compliance records and systems.  As well as being able to share loading information, we can also provide details to customers of site inspections and historical material sampling data.

To ensure that we comply with UK requirements, we ask for information on your site and the recycling activities carried out there.  This can include what materials you recycle, how you process them and what the outputs or products are from the process.  Increasingly, our suppliers also ask for details of how and where their materials are being recycled, and having this on record allows us to give reassurance to suppliers and increase opportunities to buy materials.

Oatley Resources has the environmental & technical expertise needed as regulations get stricter and supplier demands become more detailed.  We follow up after deliveries to confirm receipt and processing, including working with customers to ensure information is accurate.  If you need it, we can provide help & advice wherever you are based – covering issues such as Duty of Care, End of Waste status, Waste Framework Directive, Basel Convention and Transfrontier Shipment Regulations
